AdventHealth recently unveiled an emergency room at Flamingo Crossings Town Center nearby Walt Disney World Resort to serve patients throughout Central Florida as well as guests visiting Walt Disney World Resort.

As part of their project, a healthcare organization collaborated with Pixar animators, architectural firm AOA (Winter Park), and mosaic manufacturer Artaic (Boston) to design six custom mosaics which reflect Disney-esque water themes within their facility.

These installations feature iconic Disney characters and themes from “Finding Nemo” and “Moana.” The mosaics were constructed using both robotic technology and hand-cut elements integrated into grid-style pieces; for instance, two Moana designs feature hand-cut Heart of Te Fiti details, an ancient gem featured in both movies.

Positive distractions are strategically located throughout the ED, including at key intersections, to foster comfort, joy, and familiarity for patients and their families.
