Momentous Sports Medicine of Washington D.C.
Momentous Sports Medicine offers physical therapy and sports performance practice with elements from medical offices, gyms and spas all combined into one space.
Owner Dr. Tim Vidale of EL Studio (Washington, D.C.) sought our services for help in designing an innovative space to treat his patients as a physical therapist. Being an ex-athlete himself, Dr. Vidale requested a contemporary space which combined elements from medical facilities and wellness spas in order to optimize physical assessment and treatment of his clients.
Medical Office Renovation This project kicked off in October 2022 at Blagden Alley in northwest Washington and D.C.’s vibrant Shaw neighborhood and included bars, restaurants and coffee shops along its historic alleyway. Housed within this alley house is a 1,355-square-foot facility for medical office renovation.
On entering, patients are welcomed by reception. From there, a main hallway leads to large workout room, treatment room and staff office.
Branded design elements
An articulated ceiling plane was created to facilitate patient flow while also concealing HVAC ductwork and lighting systems. The result is an elevated ceiling zone which optimizes existing skylights while subtly imbuing it with Momentous’ brand signature gold color.
Wood-panel wrapped volumes serve to divide reception from workout zones. The latter boasts rubber and turf flooring in its former enclosed courtyard space and boasts three skylights that bring natural light indoors.
Installed was a gold cut-metal sign to increase visibility at the facility’s alley-facing entrance.
